Sector Rotation Tracker

Which of the 11 S&P sectors are leading, which are fading, and which are quietly turning the corner — tracked against SPY as the benchmark, live.

Why sector rotation matters

Different sectors lead at different points in the market cycle — Financials and Industrials often lead early in a recovery, Energy and Materials tend to lead late-cycle, Utilities and Staples tend to lead when things turn defensive. Watching which sectors are gaining relative strength (and which are losing it) is often an earlier tell than the S&P 500 index itself.

Simple ranks sectors by performance relative to SPY over your chosen lookback. RRG is the professional version — a Relative Rotation Graph plotting relative strength against its own momentum, with a trailing tail showing each sector's actual path through the four rotation phases.

vs SPY means relative performance — a sector at +2% while SPY is flat is genuinely outperforming; a sector at +2% while SPY is at +5% is actually falling behind despite the green number.
